Organizational and Regular Monthly Meeting

The next regular meeting of the Noble Local Board
will be February 21, 2008, 6:30 p.m. Administration Building
The Organizational Board meeting began at 5:15 p.m. and Board Members Ms. Bates, Mr. Crum, Mr. McKee, Mrs. Nau, and Mr. Parks were present.
The Treasurer’s monthly financial statements were also approved and minutes from the last regular meeting
Organizational Meeting:
- Oath of newly elected members – Jim Parks, Ruth Nau, and Lucy Bates
- Election of Officers – Ed McKee, President and Lucy Bates, Vice President
- Established the 3rd Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Board Office as the official meeting date.
- Appointed Ruth Nau as Delegate to OSBA’s Annual Conference and Legislative Liaison.
- Appointed Ed McKee to serve on the Records Retention Committee
- Designated the Journal Leader as official newspaper
- Approved Standing Resolutions for the Superintendent and Treasurer
Regular Meeting:
Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
- Lucy Bates shared that next week is the Mid-East Board Meeting; Adult Education Financial Coordinator Pam Decker will be retiring and commended her for an excellent job; also announced Dan Coffman has begun his duties as director of the Buffalo Campus.
- Sharon Miller shared that Mr. Denius held a very informative athletic council meeting this week; Mrs. Beaty held a financial aide meeting with 11 families in attendance; presented result of the fall OGT testing; commended teachers for continuing to work with the students to help with the passage of these test; and commended Craig Sebring for posting the bus snow routes on the web site.
- Ruth Nau shared recent legislation including recent missing child legislation; shared that the governor is putting together a plan for the re-regulation of public utilities; informed those in attendance of upcoming OSBA workshops and executive board and board of trustee meetings; and that April 23rd will be the day at the statehouse with our legislatures.
- Sandra Goff informed those in attendance that the elementary is getting back into the swing of things after the holidays and that the staff is working hard to prepare students for upcoming spring achievement tests.
- Bill Rogers (on behalf of Mike Romick) shared that 8th grade students will be attending a presentation by Perla Gonzalez owner of McDonalds and that Michaela Warner is the district five winner of the VFW Patriot’s Pen Competition noting that she has placed at the state level and the place winners will be announced January 24th.
- Dan Doyle reminded those in attendance that January 2nd marked the fifth calamity day and recent legislation requires schools to make up days 6 through 10 by contingency plan beyond that we may make up days by adding ½ hour to the school day in lieu of adding extra days and that January enrollment figures represent a stable enrollment.
Public Participation included:
- Board members received recognition for exemplary service from Noble Local Schools and OSBA as part of School Board Recognition month
- Coach Tim Wilson, Teachers April Stottsberry and Jaime Stephens along with high school athletes Julian Law and Jacob Hupp and SES students Cade Saling, Taylor Franklin, Cheyenne Giesey, Savannah Giesey and Hunter Templeton presented the SHS Athlete Tutoring Program at SES.
Superintendent Recommendations Approved:
- Approved additions to the Substitute Lists – Teachers: Kelly Meade and Custodians: Mike Frazier
- Employed Chad Miley as Junior High Boys Basketball Coach and Heather DeVolld as Junior High Girls Basketball Coach
- Approved Use of Facilities for Pioneer Driving School and Little League Wrestling
- Approved mileage rate at $ .50
- Approved carryover of vacation days for Jeff Croucher
