The next regular meeting of the Noble Local Board
will be May 15, 2008, 6:30 p.m. Administration Building

The Board meeting began at 6:40 p.m. and Board members Ms. Bates, Mr. Crum, Mr. McKee,
Mr. Parks and Mrs. Nau were present.
The Board went into Executive Session at 8:30 p.m. to discuss personnel and negotiations. The minutes were approved from the last regular meeting. The Treasurer’s monthly financial statements were also approved.
Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
- Lucy Bates reported on their regular meeting that took place and shared that committees were organized for promoting the upcoming levy
- Sharon Miller shared the final itinerary for the choir trip to Atlanta; thanked the service club, Ms. Leach and Mrs. Stahl for sprucing up the school grounds; shared that next Wednesday Jordan Dimmerling will be acknowledged as the Noble County Franklin B. Walter winner in Columbus; April 23rd five students will be inducted into the National Honor Society at the Buffalo Campus; 42 students will be participating in the Festival of Learning; 75 students/teachers attended the Prom Pledge Program in Athens and gave the program rave reviews and shared upcoming important dates to remember.
- Ruth Nau gave update on SB 221 the electric deregulation bill; shared that 240 Ohio members attended the NSBA Conference in Florida; and reported that the Ohio OSBA Capital Conference was the largest in the nation.
- Sandy Goff shared that kindergarten registration will be next week and that presently 54 students are signed up; 3rd and 4th grade after school intervention is going very well and the in March 79% of 3rd grade participated and 67% of 4th grade; shared that SES received $1,000 from First Book and received books through Reading is Fundamental that enabled all students Pre K – 4 to receive their own books; gave a special thanks to the PTO for sponsoring field trips; shared the spring testing schedule for K-4 and other upcoming important dates.
- Mike Romick reported on upcoming important dates; discussed plans for fall parent meetings; and thanks the board and those in attendance for cards and prayers while he was on medical leave.
- Francene Ogden shared that the IEP season is in full swing and that the special education staff is very involved in getting these completed.
- Don Ullmann shared his concern over fuel prices continuing to rise and the consequence it may have on the district.
- Dan Doyle informed those in attendance that the project to replace the bridges close to campus had begun and that the high school parking lot will be closed off during the school day and evening hours due to traffic restrictions; that the Ohio Valley ESC will be applying for funds to offer homeless education assistance for local schools; that enrollment remains stable with an increase of five students in March reflects an increase of three students from September; that the Mid-East Career Center Certificate Ceremony is scheduled for Friday, May 30th at 7:00 p.m. at Muskingum College; Noble Local will have a two hour delay on May 6th for professional development; principals are compiling schedules for next year; the Noble Local Wellness Committee met on April 10th with several items/recommendations being discussed; commended Brock Gorrell and Jordan Dimmerling for winning the annual Washington Electric Scholarships and Keshia Mihalik for being 1st place in the Touchstone Energy Scholarship.

Superintendent Recommendations Approved:
- Approved the following credentialed contracts: One year limited 2008-09: Steven Wentworth, Tina Danford, Maureen Welch, and Lindsay Bond; Three Year Contracts 2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11: Debbie Bailey, Martha Bartrug, Lori Tilton, Jane McGirr; Continuing Contracts: Danielle Leach, Pam Baker, Rhonda Gregg, Mike Waite and Tammy Guy
- Approved renewal of the following classified personnel contracts: Two Year Contract: Teresa Hupp, Melissa Leasure, and Duane Hill; Continuing Contracts: Sandra Moore
- Renewed contract for Dan Doyle – August 2009 – July 2012
- Approved the following administrative contracts: Three Year: Sharon Miller; One Year: Karola Housley, and Shelly Schwieterman

- Approved Noble Local to pay $20 of the $46 charge for BCII/FBI checks for all classified employees
- Approved use of facility for 4-H/FFA Quality Assurance at Shenandoah High School
- Approved admission prices for athletic events for 2008-09 school year
