The next Organizational and Regular meeting of the Noble Local Board
will be January 10, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. in the Administration Building

The Board Meeting began at 6:35 p.m. and Board Members Ms. Bates, Mr. Crum, Mr. Parks, Mr. McKee, and Mrs. Nau were present.
The Board went into Executive Session at 8:34 p.m. The minutes were approved from the regular November meeting and the Special December meeting. The Treasurer’s monthly financial statements were also approved
Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
- Lucy Bates shared the Mid-East Vocational Bulletin, indicated several new board members are being appointed to the Mid-East board and the position for Assistant Superintendent has been posted in lieu of Debbie Kaap-Salupo resigning to take a different position.
- Ruth Nau gave an update on current legislation; there is new discussion on special ed vouchers; the recently passed school Threat Bill includes a provision for calamity days beyond 10 where school may add ½ hour to their regular day to make up days and informed those in attendance that she is looking forward to serving on the OSBA Capital Conference Planning Committee.
- Sharon Miller indicated the sophomore students visited the Career Centers; that 38 seniors attended a financial aide workshop at Zane State and Mrs. Beaty is planning one for SHS on Wednesday, January 9, 2008, at 6:00 p.m.; Patricia Stillion and Jacob Hupp are Shenandoah High School’s recipients of the Wendy’s Heisman Award; National Honor Society will be distributing food baskets to local families; Ryan Varhola’s artwork will be displayed on the Marietta Times calendar for the month of July; and that Jacob Hupp received the Most Valuable Player Award at the Caldwell/Shenandoah game from Denny Crock, Food Center. Mr. Crock will be sending a check to the Shenandoah High School Academic Boosters.
- Dan Doyle reported that the Ohio School Facilities has prepared a Master Plan for Noble Local that includes renovation not building a new high school. Good news is that the 18% local share for the project remains in place; indicated that December enrollment figures reflect a five student increase and hopefully this trend will continue.
Public Participation:
- Advanced English IV Students Kayla Leister, Emily Hupp, Billy Hickman and instructor Beth Orr gave a Literature Presentation
- SST Leadership Team presented Adequately Yearly Progress information to the board that was shared with the staff at the December 12th Professional Development day.
Superintendent Recommendations Approved:
- Approved certificated contracts for Lindsay Bond – H.S. English Teacher and Melissa Franklin – Kindergarten Teacher
- Approved Substitutes
- Teacher: Bret Booher, Nicole Hawkins, and Paul Wallace
- Cook: Lisa Merrill; and Aide: Staci Hill
- Approved to discontinue technology coordinator services with Jefferson County Educational Service Center
- Approved technology services through Kinetic Networking effective January 1, 2008
- Approved David Stickley as Assistant Varsity Wrestling Coach
- Approved the 2008 prom to be held on May 17, 2008 at the Prichard Laughlin Center
- Approved the membership with OSBA
- Approved to participate in the OSBA’s Legal Assistance Fund
- Approved to set the January Organizational meeting for January 10, 2008, at 5:00 p.m. with the regular meeting to follow
- Approved Steve Crum to act as president pro-tem at the organizational meeting
- Approved Leo Michel as a volunteer for the Varsity Wrestling Program
- Approved the substitute rate: Secy., Custodian, Cook, and Aide $7.00/hour, Bus Driver $9.25/hour and Teacher/Nurse $70/day
- Approved to appoint Lucy Bates to serve on the Mid East Career and Technology Centers Board of Education for a two year term
- Approved revised policies
