The next regular meeting of the Noble Local Board
will be March 13, 2008 , 6:30 p.m. @ Administration Building

The Board Meeting began at 6:25 p.m. and Board Members Ms. Bates, Mr. Crum, Mr. Parks,
Mr. McKee, and Mrs. Nau were present.
The Board went into Executive Session at 7:53 p.m. to consider the employment of a public employee or official and to consider matters required to be kept confidential by federal laws or regulations or state statutes.
The minutes were approved from the January organization, regular and special meeting. The Treasurer’s monthly financial statements were also approved.
Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
- Lucy Bates reviewed the Mid-East Vocational Bulletin, gave an update on the Mid-East OSFC levy and reviewed application numbers for the vocational school for 2008-2009 school year.
- Ruth Nau updated those in attendance on activities of the OSBA Executive Board, reported on state budgetary cuts; on the governor’s education reform proposal and gave an update on proposed legislation.
- Sharon Miller shared that intervention is continuing for all sophomores and for students who still need to pass the OGT; that a speaker sponsored by the OVAC, Lee Rouson, will be speaking to the student body on February 27, 2008, at 8:30 a.m. and that program will be followed by the mid-winter awards assembly; informed those in attendance that the winter sport’s banquet will be held March 18th; and that Amanda McVicker will represent SHS in the OVAC Queen of Queens.
- Bill Rogers for Mike Romick reported that 40 students job shadowed at McDonald’s in Caldwell and eight were selected to visit McDonald Corporation in Chicago and gave appreciation to the board for letting him fill in as principal in the absence of Mike Romick.
- Don Ullmann reported that March 10-14 there will be a bus driver training course available and that anyone interested should contact him for information and reported on the school day that snow routes were ran by all buses.
- Jeff Croucher reported on a victory for school funding in Ohio as the Supreme Court ruled in favor of the State of Ohio vs. Columbia Gas.
- Dan Doyle reported that budget cuts from Columbus will affect local school districts; that the School Employees Health Care Board hired Bruce Gilbert from San Antonio, TX.; indicated that we have received quotes for the roof repairs at SHS that were a result of wind damage; discussed SB 264 – Teacher Strikes; thanked all parents and staff for their cooperation when our buses traveled snows routes only and that the Formula 1 Team will be recognized at the Southeast OSBA Spring Conference in March.
Public Participation included:
- SMS students - Michaela Warner and Benjamin Schockling– Patriot of the Pen Participants
In further action, the board heard and approved recommendations for personnel:
- Substitutes – Teachers - Richard Fannin; Custodians: Junior Parks
- Supplementals – David Milliken, Girls Varsity Track Coach and Mike Waite, Boys Varsity Track Coach
- Approved Kay Housley as a tutor
Superintendent Recommendations Approved:
- Approved Use of Facility Waivers for Little League Wrestlers; Summerfield Alumni; Noble County Health Department for Noble Idol; and Academic Boosters for Practice and Alumni Tournament
- Approved a resolution to participate in Interdistrict Open Enrollment for the 2008-09 school year. Period to sign up for Open Enrollment will be April 1, 2008 through June 15, 2008
- Approved Summer School Dates for June 9 through June 20, 2008
- Approved Melissa Johnson to transport a special needs student
- Appointed Board Standing Committees for 2008
- Changed the March Board Meeting Date from March 20th to March 13th
