The next regular meeting of the Noble Local Board
will be June 19, 2008, 6:30 p.m. Administration Building

The Board Meeting began at 6:33 p.m. and Board Members Ms. Bates, Mr. McKee, Mr. Parks and Mrs. Nau were present and the minutes of the last regular meeting were approved. The Board went into Executive Session at 8:54 p.m. to consider the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, office, licensee or student and to consider matters required to be kept confidential by federal law or regulations or state statutes.
Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
- Lucy Bates’ report included (in her absence) the vocational ceremony will be Friday, May 30th, at 7:00 p.m. at Muskingum College.
- Ruth Nau updated those in attendance of proposed legislation; on OSBA activities including the executive committee met on May 4th; that the Southeast OSBA Fall Conference will be held at Alexander High School in Albany; that this years “Advocate for Education” Hall of Fall inductee will be Albert Huffman, father of our State Board of Education Representative, Jennifer Stewart and that OSBA opposes mandatory board training.
- Sandy Goff invited those in attendance to the K-4 awards days on June 2nd and 3rd; shared that the mini relay for life will be June 5th; presented the K-8 student handbook revisions; and reported on professional development activities held on May 6th and indicated the staff was very appreciative of the time given to share information across grade levels.
- Mike Romick’s report included (in his absence) that June 3rd at 9:30 a.m. the 8th grade promotional ceremony will be held; and the Middle School Honor Banquet will be Monday, May 19th at 6:00 p.m.
- Sharon Miller reported that the high school awards day will be Friday, May 23rd, at 8:30 a.m.; reminded those in attendance of commencement on May 24th, 7:00 p.m.; presented revisions to the student handbook; reported on professional development activities on May 6th; shared that students will be attending the Buckeye Girls and Boys State compliments of Belle Valley Legion and that this years honors banquet went very well and we have 22 students who have obtained the honors diploma from the State of Ohio.
- Don Ullmann reported on the Wellness Committee activities and shared concerns over the fuel cost for transportation that has risen to $4.21 per gallon.
- Jeff Croucher shared that the five year financial forecase will be submitted by the end of the month and will be presented to the board at the June meeting.
- Dan Doyle presented to the board a letter from Jake Kasper, who has accepted a position in Florida, thanking all those at Noble Local for giving him the opportunity to be a part of the staff these past four years; updated those in attendance on the bridge project and shared that Jordan Dimmerling was Noble Counties Franklin B. Walter All-Scholastic award winner.

Superintendent Recommendations Approved:
- Approved resignation teachers – Robin Archer, Lynn Zerkle, and Cindy Kasper for retirement purposes
- Approved extended service contracts for the 2008-09 school year: Dan Schwieterman, Diana Beaty, Jane McGirr, William Gorrell and Eric VanFleet
- Approved additions to the 2007-08 substitute list: Teachers: Chelsie Calahan; Aides – Shari Jones, Jodi Arick and Darlene Lovette; Cook – Shari Jones; Custodian – Shari Jones; and Drivers – Terry West and Mike Milligan
- Approved supplemental contracts for the 2008-09 school year: Mark Withrow – Lead Mentor; David Easterling- Boys Reserve Basketball; Jon Jordan – Junior High Football; and Amy Jordan – High School Cheerleader Advisor
- Approved the following teachers to teach summer school: Robin Archer, Cynthia Kasper, Jill Parks; Teresa Perkins; Bill Rogers; April Stottsberry; Sandra Carpenter and Kay Housley Coordinator
- Approved tutors for special needs students
- Approved to recall Theresa Hupp from Reduction In Force (RIF) due to the student’s return to school
- Approved Use of Facilities for Dee Frakes – Mini Relay for Life – June 5, 2008
- Approved membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association for Shenandoah High School and Junior High 7-12 for the 2008-09 school year
- Approved Cooperative Contract between Noble Local School District and Caldwell Exempted Village Schools for ED services pending need
- Approved Contracts with Agencies for Services: ETSEO and Southeast Ohio Rehabilitation Services OT/PT Services
- Approved Batelle for Kids Agreement
- Approved Pay to Participate fees for 2008-09 school year
