The Noble Local Board of Education Regular Monthly Meeting

The next regular meeting of the Noble Local Board
will be December 20, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. in the Administration Building

The Board Meeting began at 6:32 p.m. and Board Members Ms. Bates, Mr. Crum, Mr. Parks, Mr. McKee, and Mrs. Nau were present.
The Board went into Executive Session at 7:50 p.m. The minutes were approved from the regular October meeting. The Treasurer’s monthly financial statements were also approved.
Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
- Lucy Bates shared the Mid East Vocational Bulletin and shared that Asst. Supt. Debbie Kaap-Salupo has left the Vocational School for a superintendent position.
- Ruth Nau gave an update on present pending legislation; Capital Conference Activities; informed those in attendance that in January 2008 she would be assuming the role of President of the Southeast Region Ohio School Board’s Association.
- Sharon Miller invited Board Members to the National Honor’s Society Ceremony on Wednesday, November 21st at 1:30 p.m.; informed those in attendance that Mr. Sebring has been adding items to the website and that the English students have been presenting articles at this time and commended Mrs. Turner and the Choir for a great Variety Show and Mark Withrow and the ZNN Staff for an excellent Veteran’s Day Program at SHS.
- Mike Romick commented on the Veteran’s Day Program and thanked Harold Schockling, WWII POW Veteran and reminded everyone that the Benefit for Olivia Mallett will take place at SES.
- Sandra Goff informed everyone in attendance that this was celebrity readers week at SES; that the PA system donated by PTO helped to make the Veteran’s Day Program more meaningful; that the Fall 3rd Grade Reading Achievement Test results are in with 57% of students achieving the standard which is the best scores we have received and that every student grades 1-4 received a book through the Reading is Fundamental Grant/Noble County Health Department.
- Jeff Croucher informed the Board that he has completed the Public Records Training as required by law.
- Dan Doyle commended the staff, students, and honorable guests for an excellent Veteran’s Day Program, informed those in attendance that Karen Schott, School Nurse, John Blackburn, Maintenance Supervisor, Custodian and Principals for putting in interventions of a proactive approach of keeping MRSA out of schools; that officials from the Ohio Schools Facility Commission will be doing a walk-through at SES on Wednesday, November 28th as part of the Assessment of Facilities and that we must remain active in getting signatures for the School Funding Amendment “Getting it Right for Ohio’s Future”.

- Shenandoah Middle School 7th Grade students Landon Tomcho and Micheala Warner – “Take a Veteran to School Program”
- Joey Freeman – student concern
- Joey Wheeler – Track certificate presentation to the Board
- John Bates and Steve Brown – possible soccer program at SHS
- Lynn Zerkle – encouraged all parties to successfully complete negotiations
- Guy Carpenter – PTO- Emergency Notification System
- Dan Doyle – presented plaque to Board for five consecutive years of 100% participation by the buildings in Right to Read Week
Superintendent Recommendations Approved:
- Approved classified contracts for: Teresa Hupp – Special Ed. Aide at SHS – four days per week three hours per day and Duane Hill Bus Driver bus number 10
- Approved addition to volunteer list for the 2007-08 school year
- Approved Substitutes
- Teacher: Bryan Conaway, Jennifer Bates, Lori Fisher and Danny Coyle; Cooks: Theresa Leach; Custodians: Mike Frazier; and Aides: Stephanie Morgan
- Mark Withrow – Lead Mentor
- Sue Sleeper and Jill Parks – Mentors
- Approved Activity Volunteer – Kim Stahl and Colleen Kasper – Girls Varsity Basketball
- Approved Building Use for: Use of the Hall by the Public for a fee of $25 per month payable to the Shenandoah Athletic Department with $5.00 of each fee to be used for offset of utility cost
