A NOTE FROM THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL

A NOTE FROM THE ELEMENTARY PRINCIPAL
Mrs. Sandra Goff

Welcome back to another successful school year.  I would personally like to welcome all new and returning students to Shenandoah Elementary.  I hope you all are well rested and prepared for the beginning of a new school year.  It has been a short summer but that has not hampered the enthusiasm of our incredible staff.  Our building, gym, and classrooms look wonderful thanks to the hard work of our custodial and maintenance staffs. I want to thank them for the dedicated work they do.

Many teachers have attended classes and workshops to enhance their teaching and already have been preparing lessons, materials, and their classrooms.  Their dedication and willingness to do “whatever it takes” to make sure that each child succeeds is inspiring.  We are truly blessed to have such dedicated and talented teachers.

At Shenandoah Elementary, it is our goal to provide a safe, enjoyable, and educational environment for our students.  We want your child to be happy and successful.  Being a parent is the most important role anyone can have.   You are your child’s first and most crucial teacher.  If education is a priority for you, so it will be for your child.  As parents, we encourage you to take an active roll in your child’s education by making your son/daughter responsible for their school work, homework, and behavior.  Attendance and good behavior is crucial to the educational success of the children.  You play a key role in your child’s success. That role is to continually show interest in and support for your child.  The child who knows that his or her family is interested in and supports the school program will almost always have fewer problems in school and will enjoy great success.

We believe in fair and consistent discipline that encourages students to be responsible for themselves.  Children do work best when expectations for learning and behavior are clear and consistent.  The elementary has a school wide discipline plan. Your child will bring home a letter explaining this policy the first day of school.  They will also be bringing home their student planners which include our handbook in them.  Please read through this handbook with your children and encourage them to be good citizens at school.  At school, our goal is to create a safe environment where courtesy and kindness prevail and where there is respect for differences in other people, customs, and cultures. We do not tolerate bullying or violence of any kind.

Please share with your child’s teacher any information regarding his or her special needs that will help us better serve your family.  We believe that communication among parents, students, and teachers is critical in assuring student success.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.  I check my voice mail daily.  You may also email me at sandra.goff@omeresa.net.  I am
looking forward to seeing all of our children and beginning another great school year!

Sincerely,
Mrs. Sandra Goff
