The Board Meeting began at  6:34 p.m. and Board Members Ms. Bates, Mr. Parks, Mr. McKee, and Mrs. Nau were present.

The Board went into Executive Session at 7:48 p.m. to consider the discipline of a public employee or official and to consider the investigation of charges or complaints against a public employee, official, licensee, or student and to review negotiations or bargaining sessions with public employees concerning their compensation or other terms and conditions of their employment and to consider matters required to be kept confidential by federal law or regulations or state statutes.  The Treasurer’s monthly financial statements were also approved.

 

 

Administrative Reports/Updates were given by:
Lucy Bates – reviewed the minutes of the vocational school board meeting and shared the Mid-East Bulletin; indicated new teachers were introduced to the board; and shared that Mid-East will proceed with Building Levy next year.
Ruth Nau – updated on new and current legislation; shared that data showed 27% of legislation was acted upon in the last seven weeks of session; that recent data indicates charter schools across Ohio are failing yet continue to siphon money from Federal and State Government.
Mike Romick – shared that the school year at the middle school is off to a good start and along with Bill Rogers presented information on this year’s 7th/8th grade trip.
Bill Rogers – shared appreciation to board for having confidence in him to perform the duties of principal in the absence of Sandra Goff; commended SES staff for a great opening; and reminded those in attendance of the Annual Block Party on Tuesday, September 25, 2007, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Sharon Miller’s report– Shenandoah High School is off to a great start; five students completed graduation requirements over the summer; Diana Beaty will be administering the PSAT test on October 17th; teachers are completing the Beta Tech survey; homecoming will be October 12th during the Shenandoah vs. River game; and that the blood mobile will visit SHS on October 5th for the blood bash between Shenandoah and Caldwell.
Francene Ogden – shared that the special education department is very busy and all students are receiving their related service.
Jeff Croucher – reported on HB 315 – STRS proposal to increase employer/employee contributions.
Dan Doyle – informed the Board that Noble Local received a certificate for 100% participation in the 2006-07 Ohio Right to Read Week; reminded the board that Noble Local will be implementing our lunchbox point of sale system in October and will be using the fingerprint method but parents may opt for a different method; extended thanks to People’s Bank, Community Savings, and PC Systems for their donation to the scoreboard project
